Reviews Report
- Go Auto is only available in four states.
- It sells straightforward auto insurance without any of the extras.
- It remains largely unrated by leading ratings providers.
Go Auto is a newer auto insurance provider that offers car insurance in just four states. If you live in Louisiana, Nevada, Ohio, or Texas, you are in luck. Not too much information is available online for its products, but there are several physical branches where you can meet with an agent in-person.
Go Auto Insurance markets itself as being a low-cost option for drivers; however, low cost does not always mean good value.
Go Auto sells auto insurance in Louisiana, Nevada, Ohio, and Texas. The Baton Rouge-based auto insurer has been operating for 10 years since first opening its doors. As a small and relatively new insurer, Go Auto Insurance lacks the financial heft of some of its more well-known peers and seems to fall when it comes to customer satisfaction.

The Auto Insurance Factors We Analyzed
Pricing
As Go Auto Insurance primarily markets itself as a low-cost insurance provider, you would expect this to be where it shines. Given Go Auto’s primary service area is concentrated in the state of Louisiana, it may be helpful to know the average cost of full coverage car insurance in Louisiana is $2,350 per year — which is fairly high compared to U.S. averages.
Remember that auto insurance rates vary significantly based on geographical location (even by specific ZIP code) and individual circumstances such as driver history and age. These values should only be taken as a guideline for comparison purposes. To find out how much your rate would vary with Go Auto compared to the average for the state, you would need to obtain a quote.
Customer experience
A top concern for many drivers is customer experience, but Go Auto goes largely unrated by some of the top ratings providers. It is not rated in the 2021 J.D. Power U.S. Auto Insurance Study, nor the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). This may be primarily due to the limited states the provider operates in.
Coverage
Go Auto Insurance can provide any standard coverages as would be required by your state. At a minimum, your policy will include bodily injury liability and property damage liability to pay for others’ expenses if you are at fault in an accident. Depending on your state requirements or your personal preferences, your policy may also include uninsured motorist coverage, personal injury protection or medical payments that may help cover expenses for you and your passengers if injured in an accident. Comprehensive and collision coverage each provides some version of physical damage coverage for your vehicle and can be added to create a full coverage policy.
Deals, discounts and add-ons
Go Auto Insurance does not offer roadside assistance, rideshare coverage or gap insurance, but it does have options for things such as towing and car rental coverage. Go Auto Insurance is purely a car insurance provider, so you can’t access any umbrella products like property insurance.
During April and May 2020, Go Auto Insurance offered a 15% discount on premiums in the Louisiana area to help eligible customers save money due to the coronavirus crisis. However, the provider does not indicate any plans regarding extending this discount or offering any others. Nevertheless, with the low base cost of Go Auto Insurance, this may be less of an issue than it would be with more expensive providers.
Go Auto Insurance Overview: Financial Strength, Availability and History
Go Auto Insurance has no rankings on sites such as YouGov, J.D. Power or A.M Best, making it challenging to assess factors regarding the strength and impact of the company as a provider.

Go Auto Insurance vs. USAA
USAA is one of the highest-rated insurance providers in the U.S. today. In terms of third-party ratings, Go Auto does not have any from traditional rating agencies. However, USAA has an A++ (Superior) rating from AM Best for financial strength, and a top customer satisfaction rating from J.D. Power which reflects a high degree of customer satisfaction.
USAA primarily caters its insurance products to members of the military and their immediate family, customizing coverage and benefits to the military lifestyle. The only real downside of USAA is that coverage is limited to a single demographic.
Go Auto Insurance vs. Geico
Geico is another insurance provider at the lower end of the cost spectrum. It has an edge over Go Auto Insurance in terms of products available, since it also offers property insurance and provides additional savings to customers who take out both kinds of policies simultaneously.
Geico also has much better-than-average customer satisfaction and financial strength ratings, which may make it a safer bet for your money than the largely unrated Go Auto Insurance.
How We Evaluated Go Auto Insurance
Factors evaluated are based on ratings from organizations such as J.D. Power and AM Best, independent customer service ratings, as well as average premiums.
The Bottom Line
Go Auto Insurance may be a good fit for specific drivers, depending on their situation and whether or not they qualify for other insurers. There are plenty of other providers in the same price range that have a better standing among industry rating boards, and the lack of options and non-auto related products makes it hard to customize insurance and gain additional discounts.
Nonetheless, Go Auto Insurance does have a robust online presence, physical branches to make communication simpler and a decent smartphone app.
